As someone who lived through that era, let me tell you, the gameplay graphics were never a disappointment. In your mind they looked as good as graphics today. The only thing I can remember being disappointed about was the Nintendo Powerglove. Man, what a collosal, non-working, over hyped advertising lies, piece of shit that thing was!
I ordered an iPod from Alibaba back in the day and it was most certainly not an iPod. I think they’re more reliable than back then, but who knows. It’s always a gamble ordering from those kinds of sites.
One time I ordered a PS2 kit from some janky-ass Chinese site. The kit converted it into a flip top and included a CD that would let you play burned games. After a couple months of it not showing up, I figured I got ripped off, which I half expected anyways. 3.5 months later the kit showed up at my doorstep and actually worked. Haha! I used that thing for years after making the conversion.
Updates used to be used for improvements and enhancements. Now they seem to be mainly used for resetting your tracking settings, adding more tracking, and removing useful features. We’re truly going backwards as a digital society.
That’s a valid concern that I didn’t consider.

I just found one of those old switch boxes a few days ago. The boxes where the antenna and the Atari plugged in, and then you switched it to whichever input you wanted.
