Not OP, but that’s one part of it. You can turn down graphics, and games will still look fine on the small screen, but some games just need some extra power.
I haven’t played RDR2 but something like Returnal runs okayish on the Deck, but runs great on my PC. If I want good framerates on the Deck, I need to turn everything down, and it’s acceptable on the go, but at home I could run it at 60 fps easy with better graphics if I stream it.
Have you tried enabling gyro aiming? It makes a pretty big difference in FPS games for the smaller movements that are hard to get with a joystick.
Checkout protondb.com search for anything. Chances are just about any game you might want to play will run on the Steam Deck. Games that outright don’t work are few and far between. The exception is competitive games with invasive (often kernel-level) anti-cheat measures.

Chinese doesn’t have a phonetic alphabet, so basically all the writing is in hanzi. Japanese kanji were basically just taken from hanzi, but they also have a phonetic alphabet, so they don’t need all the words to have a kanji equivalent.
Also, there’s much less overlap in pronunciation of Japanese words than in Chinese. It makes sense that you would have more characters to represent more words when their pronunciation is identical.
Yeah, of course games made back then are going to look ridiculous scaled up to 1080p or higher. The SNES had a resolution of 256×224, and the graphics were designed with the drawbacks of 50/60hz interlaced displays in mind. Nowadays, we have progressive scan consumer-grade TVs at 4K resolutions and refresh rates of 120hz. It doesn’t make sense to scale the graphics up directly.
Now all you need to use it is a 90’s sound card with a built-in game port.
NES Contra is just better in every way except graphics. The arcade version has clunky, awkward movement compared to the console version. But it also wasn’t made to suck quarters out of your pocket until you were broke.
