It’s a great deck game.
Eskating cyclist, gamer and enjoyer of anime. Probably an artist. Also I code sometimes, pretty much just to mod titanfall 2 tho.
Introverted, yet I enjoy discussion to a fault.
It’s a great deck game.
You’ve got a typo there, it’s RPCS3, not RCPS3.
Use protondb ratings.
There’s a decky plugin that will show a steamdb badge on game pages (that also works as a shortcut to open the protondb page).
This seems like a prototype that they can make using the parts from the current deck.
I’m not sure the two square pads make sense on an actual controller, and I feel like those thumbsticks would be just out of comfortable reach.
It’s also what got me to finally go linux full-time.
I had tried to a couple times before, but always ran into one too many snags.
When the deck was announced I thought to myself “that can’t work with every game, can it?” as I’d attempted that myself.
But I had to see for myself, and the improvements in proton were staggering. And it’s gotten even better since! Who would have though Apex Legends, Hunt Showdown, and a bunch of other holdouts and anti-cheat games would be running on linux within a year of the deck releasing?
I’ll be waiting for a crack that circumvents this. If I get the game someday.
That sounds like exactly what I was getting
Like complete freezes followed by a reboot? Or straight to complete reboot?
I had that on my first unit, RMAd it and hasn’t happened again on the new one. I assumed it was some kind of faulty hardware component. Like the RAM or GPU.
Note that you can enable a setting in heroic to do that automatically. Then you just install all your gog games and heroic will make sure they show up in steam.
I’d really like AV1 support, and a resolution setting. Right now it records my 3440x1440 ultrawide as 1920x804.
Immersion, yes, but also haptics provide feedback.
Lots of games use it to tell you things, like when your health is low, when to time something, when you took damage vs blocked successfully, when you’re close to a secret…
Used right, it’s another sensory input channel in addition to sound and visuals.
One of the biggest genres that I use a controller for, because I consider KBM to be unplayable for it, is racing games. And there haptics are used to tell you TONS about what is happening in the game.
50?
So they left out vibration so it wouldn’t be the usual 60?
Those savings don’t take the price down to “will buy” they take the featureset down to “will never buy”.
Some games have button layouts that make certain actions a pain. Two examples.
Horizon Zero Dawn - Healing is by default done by hitting dpad up. You generally want to press this button whenever you take damage to essentially trigger health regen, but doing so requires taking your thumb off the left stick, which means you can’t simultaneously avoid even more damage. Bind to back button, problem solved.
BallisticNG - Weapons are bound to X, discard weapons is bound to B, and accelerate is on A. So when you pick up a weapon, to discard/use it you either have to drop thrust (bad, never do that) or awkwardly shimmy your thumb to either hit X or B without letting go of A. Bind X and B to back buttons, problems solved.
Hopefully they can get game broadcasting working on Linux, too.
It’s so dumb how game streaming and remote play together, work, but if someone just wants to watch, no can do.
WRC is a rally racing game.
And even if it weren’t, this is a shit take.
Might have more to do with chiaki not completely being PS5 ready?
The DS5 definitely works, games like Forbidden West and Rift Apart even have adaptive triggers working when played in proton.
Does that work via chiaki, btw?
The deck uses standard USB PD protocols to request power, so yes, these should work.
Worth noting, the Deck used to be unable to charge using PD chargers that were rated at less than 40W, this has been fixed in a firmware update and it is now able to correctly request power from any USB PD charger.
To charge while playing, a PD charger with a 15V mode is required, but any PD charger that can do 5 or 9 volts can still charge the Deck while idle/sleeping.
Looks like this might only be possible by setting the other accounts to being child accounts.
It’s not clear if that hides games from being shared. The info page explicitly states that ALL eligible games are shared.
To get control of what an account can and cannot see/play, the account has to be configured as a child.
I wish I could have protondb badges inside the desktop steam client.
Would be nice if this worked with linux in general.
