I can understand some of his frustration, but I disagree with his assertion that someone asking if he used AI qualifies them as “priestly”. He seems proud of the work he did and I respect that, but asking if he used AI on the project is a valid question because if he did, asking other questions about the tech stack is kinda meaningless. Even setting aside my own bias on the subject of AI, I don’t personally see much point in asking about the details of a project if the person who claims to have made it didn’t actually do the work.

I disagree, cause how the code was produced is incidental. What should be discussed is the code itself, and the human should take ownership of the code. Most code is produced to solve a problem, it’s not school homework, The work the person should be doing is ensuring that the code is doing what they intended.

asking if he used AI on the project is a valid question

Maybe in some scenarios, but reducing years of his work to “how vibey is your code?” with no inquiry whatsoever on the finer technical aspects of his work is telling. They don’t care. They’re more interested in “Are you on my side of the AI wars?”, forcing the issue, because that’s the only ‘contribution’ they can make to the discussion.
